Using Sage Accpac to Track Vendor Payments for Year End Reporting
By Scott Schreiner, Senior Consultant
Now that year end reporting chores are complete for another year, here are some thoughts on how to generate next year's year end reporting by using Sage Accpac to print 1099 and 1096 forms.
Sage Accpac has printed 1099 forms for a long time. With version 5.6, the ability to print the summary form (1096) is now possible as well. For the 1099 forms to be printed from Accpac, the data must be gathered throughout the year. This means that some upfront preparation may be needed to capture information for year-end reporting.

Monitoring Changes to Your Accpac System with Audit Logger
Do you ever ask yourself or hear others ask the following questions…
What changes have been made to our system settings? Who authorized them? For what reason? How long have the changes been in place? What impact did the changes have on our financial results? Who controls set up and changes to Passwords and Security Settings in our system?
Natively, Sage Accpac tracks the user ID and the date and time of changes to the database. However, there are times when this data may not be reliable. For example, when the database dump and database load utilities are used to re-index the database, these processes update the ID and date/time fields to reflect the user ID (usually ADMIN) and the date/time of the dump and load processes, removing the prior record of any changes.
Additionally, the built-in tracking only shows the last change, and does not show any history of changes to the record prior to the last change. For example, when the AR customer record is updated, the user making the change is noted within the Accpac fields as the last user to change the record, and any prior change is no longer stored, making tracking changes difficult if not impossible.
